Two battalions of Polish troops are reported to have entered Ukraine. SAS and US intelligence are also reported to be in Ukraine.

Russia has stated that any nation that interferes in its special intervention in Ukraine will be regarded as a military target.

The Poles may be intending seize territory that historically was Polish.
